Prof dr Patrick Van de Voorde is clinical head emergency medicine at Ghent University Hospital. He is appointed professor ‘paediatric emergency medicine’ at Ghent University. Since 2013 he also functions as medical director of the Emergency Dispatch Centre 112 for Eastern-Flanders (Federal Department of Health). He co-chairs the paediatric science and education committee for the European Resuscitation Council [ERC] and is honoured as fellow of that ERC. He is member of the ILCOR taskforce on paediatric resuscitation. He is also a member of the paediatric section of the European Society of Emergency medicine. He has many publications in the field of emergency medicine and cardiac arrest and is co-author of the 2015 ERC guidelines on resuscitation. 

He is the principal organiser of the PREM congress in Ghent (2013, 2017, 2019). 

He is fond of his wife and children, punkrock, football, fantasy novels and much more (and in that order)
